Castillo de Locubín does not have a market where garden and local products are sold, but on Monday mornings there is a small market of local products in the park tent. It is not very big, but it is worth visiting if your stay allows it.

Where to buy typical bread and sweets

Castillo de Locubín has several bakeries where you can buy different types of bread, pastries, and artisanal cakes. As a curiosity, local and regional bakeries offer a home delivery service. They drive around the streets in vans honking their horns to announce their presence. If you’d like, you can flag them down and buy bread directly from them, and you can even arrange for them to deliver it to El Jardín de Castillo every day.

If you prefer to take a walk in the morning to buy bread, here are the main bakeries:

Panadería Jero. It is very close to our accommodations, it is a traditional bakery, they have different types of bread, as well as cakes, ensaimadas and different sweets, do not forget to try the sweet potato fillings, they are a delight. At Easter they also have roscos and pestiños typical of the area. This bakery is also famous for making the Castilian blanket, which is a rolled sponge cake filled with flan. To enjoy it, you will have to order it at least 24 hours in advance.

Panadería de Fraile. On Avenida Andalucía, right in front of the Castillo de Locubín Active Participation Center, you will find another artisan bakery from the nearby town of Frailes.

Panadería de la Plaza. In the Plaza del Carmen, also very close to our accommodations, there is another traditional bakery.

All bakeries are open from Monday to Saturday. If you are staying with us on a weekend, please note that they are closed on Sundays.

Pastelería Chuches Merchi. It is a small establishment that sells candy, pastries, drinks, and products for a getaway. One of its main advantages is that it closes late at night and is open on weekends and holidays, which is great considering that all local businesses are closed on those days. In addition, at the entrance to the town and next to the notary’s office there is a 24-hour vending machine.

Where to refuel gasoline in Castillo de Locubín.

It’s important to know that currently there is no gas station or electric vehicle charging point in Castillo de Locubín. To refuel, you will need to travel to Alcalá la Real, where there are several gas stations.

In Castillo de Locubín, there are two gas stations, but they belong to agricultural cooperatives and only members can refuel there. At El Jardín de Castillo, we will try to arrange for guests who wish to refuel at one of these stations to do so, thus avoiding the need to travel to Alcalá la Real.
